So on Saturday I ate at El Super Taco the one on Sawtelle and Pico... their carne asada is awesome... I think thats what really makes me go back there. They also have great service. Whenever I need my Mexican food fix, that is the place that I usually go to. I had their Super Nachos with carne asada... always a great comfort food. I love their guacamole sauce and salsa verde.
Sunday at work at to be the craziest day I have ever worked there! First off there were well over 300 people! I served probably at the very least 600 plates of dutch white asaparagus, morel mushrooms, fava beans and beurre blanc! 9 hours of work! It was really nice to see the night crew too! It was also sad to see our Sous Chef leave. :-( He is very knowledgeable and was delight to work with. I got to try a little bit of food which was awesome. I was counting down to 3pm. But not because I did not enjoy myself, just because I was tired. Even our people from our NYC restaurant were there. They are all very nice, awesome and helpful! Happy 30th to Michael's Santa Monica!
My best friend and I also headed to Bossa Nova on Pico Blvd. in West LA. It has been one of our favorite places to enjoy an occasional meal. I have yet to be completly disappointed with anything there. I especially love their plantains, granted I can easily do it myself, it is just one of those things that I just would rather have there. This time around I had Diego's Favorite seabass, in a lemon cream sauce served with leek risotto. I think this is a great dish, I personally always prefer more acid with my fish so I asked for more lemon. I also did not care too much for the fried leeks on top of my risotto because they were almost burnt, I think I might have prefer my leeks either just sauteed or carmalized. My best friend had their skirt steak which was perfectly marinated and very tasty. It was served with beans, plantains, rice and pico de gallo which is what most of their al carte food is served with. Bossa Nova is a definite must try, plus the one on Pico is open until 4am! Their sangria is a must try in case you ever wanted a drink! :-D
